Score 88-90/100 · Drink 2006-2012, Pierre Rovani, Jun 2004

Produced from a parcel that runs from the outstanding premier cru Les Cailles down to the N74, the 2002 Nuits-St.-Georges Les Poisets boasts a rose, violet and blackberry-scented nose that leads to a gorgeously ripe, concentrated personality. Fresh cassis, grapy blackberries, and hints of licorice can be found in its expressive core of fruit. Its lengthy finish displays loads of sweet tannin. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2012. Importers: A Peter Vezan Selection, Paris fax #011-33-1-42-55-42-93, and also represented by Russell Herman, Berkeley Heights, NJ; tel. (908) 771-9082

Good ruby-red. Reduced aromas of black raspberry, gunflint and leather. Sweet and juicy, with a bit more acidity than the Hautes-Maizieres. Still quite unevolved due to the late malolactic fermentation, with the slightly drying tannins not yet integrated.
