The 2004 Meursault 1er Cru Perrières is drinking very well today, so now is a great time to be pulling corks. Unwinding in the glass with scents of orange oil, dried white flowers, iodine, beeswax and chamomile, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and incisive, with racy acids and a long, penetrating finish.

Quite severe. Very tight. Very very youthful. (JR)

Deeply pitched aromas of lemon, wet stone and minerals. Fat, sweet and lush but still a bit youthfully wound-up, even a tad reduced, with firm acids and minerality giving shape to the creamy middle palate. Finishes thick, tactile and very long, with superb vivacity. This classic example of Perrieres calls for seven or eight years of patience. Roulot notes that he still gives the edge to the '02 (rated 94(+?) in Issue 116).

Green-tinged color. Vibrant aromas of lemon candy and crushed stone. Precise, incisive and penetrating; totally different in texture from the fatter Charmes. Wonderfully lively, stony and long on the back end. Roulot noted that it was unusually early to be able to see the differences between his various terroirs in June, especially the grand crus.
