(tasted just prior to bottling): Pale bright yellow. Candied peach, lemon drop and a whiff of flint on the ripe, expressive nose. At once fat and powerful, with fresh apricot, crushed stone and mint flavors framed by penetrating grapefruit/pineapple acidity. This has the density and force of a grand cru, not to mention the minerality. Really opens out and builds on the back.

(tasted at the end of its malo) Compelling nose offers lemon drop, orange, crushed stone and menthol. Suave, dense and thick but with good mineral cut energizing the citrus and spice flavors. Nicely sappy, minerally, broad wine with a vibrant, persistent finish. "At the beginning this was more chardonnay than terroir-driven," noted Gublin. "It was easy to taste but lacked real flavor. But now the minerality is coming out."
