The 2001 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru has a burnished straw color. The nose seems fully mature and shows a bit of botrytis that shaves off some of its potential delineations, although it remains enjoyable. Hints of beeswax surface with time. The palate is better defined than the nose but provides further evidence of some botrytisation with dried honey on the finish. It has an impressive length, and it is still giving pleasure after 22 years. Tasted at the Meursault dinner in Hong Kong.
