Fresh, floral nose. Compact, very integrated nose doing valiant battle with the ripeness. Rich and sleek and very satisfying for current drinking. Solid stuff with a little more chew than the Lafon Meursault. (JR)

Tasted blind at Farr Vintners Kumeu/White Burgundy tasting. There is a slight reduction on the nose of Drouhin’s 2009 Meursault Perrières but it clears with aeration to reveal attractive white peach, granite, smoke and dried orange peel scents that are all well defined. The palate is well defined with a harmonious, lightly spiced entry. There is a pleasant touch of bitter lemon on the finish that imparts the necessary tension and race, although it will benefit from another year in bottle. Otherwise, this is an excellent Meursault Perrières from Drouhin.

Full yellow. Very ripe apple on the nose, with some resiny high tones. Rich, chewy and sweet, with slightly aggressive peach and spiced apple flavors. Aeration brought intriguing hazelnut and leesy nuances but I don't find the stony cut and reserve--or the mineral energy--of classic Perrieres. In a fruit-driven style and a bit edgy on the finish. Where can this go in bottle?
