Tasting notes
The 2009 Crozes Hermitage le Grand Courtil is showing some bricking at the rim, evolved earthy aromas and some meaty-leathery notes. It's still full-bodied and mouth-filling, but it's starting to thin out texturally and drying out on the finish. Drink up.

Opaque ruby. Dark berry preserves and flowers on the highly scented nose. At once rich and lively, with intense flavors of mineral-tinged blackberry and violet. Firm tannins add shape and solid grip to long, spicy, subtly smoky finish. I find this wine very youthful and wouldn't advise drinking it any time soon.
Inky ruby. Sexy aromas of blackberry, smoky herbs, potpourri and licorice, with a lively mineral undertone. Lush and creamy in texture, offering broad dark berry, floral pastille and smoky mineral flavors. Closes with a fine dusting of tannins, good snap and alluring sweetness and perfume.
