Score 87/100 · Drink 2011-2015, Robert Parker, Feb 2011

Abundant aromas of peppery olive-tinged red and black currant fruit emerge from the 2008 Crozes-Hermitage Le Grand Courtil. This medium-bodied Crozes can be drunk now and over the next 3-4 years.. Ferraton’s parent company, Chapoutier, has done an excellent job in St.-Peray working with Marsanne and Roussanne. This long-forgotten appellation may turn out to be the Northern Rhone’s white wine answer to Burgundy’s Chablis. As for the 2009 red wines, this is the best portfolio of dry red wines Ferraton has yet produced. Importer: A French Paradox, Peoria, IL; tel. (309) 682-8994

Deep, bright red. Very expressive, pure aromas of raspberry, cherry, violet and blood orange. Then silky and slightly tart, with nervy red fruit flavors and good mineral snap. A fresh and energetic style, expanding on the back end and finishing with a fine dusting of tannins and good grip.
