Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. There is a slight flatness on the nose of the Meursault 1er Cru Charmes 2011 from Bouzereau, although there is a light marine influence, one that becomes more accentuated with aeration. The palate is crisp and taut with fine acidity. Like Coche-Bizouard’s Meursault Charmes there is a touch of bitter lemon, but here it is more embroidered into the wine that has an austere, saline finish. Returning after ten minutes it seems to lose a little luster, but it remains a commendable, if not exceptional, premier cru.

Rather sweet and soft. With a bitter finish. Harsh. (JR)
There is a distinctly nutty character to the ripe and agreeably fresh white orchard fruit, acacia blossom and spice suffused nose. The round, supple and delicious medium-bodied flavors display good verve and cut on the saline-infused and notably firm finish that is shaped by the well-integrated acid spine. This is built to age and will require 6 to 8 years of bottle age before it arrives at its full apogee. Tasted: Jun 11, 2013. Drink: 2018+
