Tasted at Château Rauzan-Gassies. The 2008 Croizet Bages, a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc, has a high-toned bouquet compared to the 2006 and 2007 with blackberry, melted tar and just a touch of graphite. The palate is medium-bodied with a saline finish, a more substantial "middle" than the 2007, leading to a mulberry and tarry finish. Tasted June 2015.

Pale ruby. Light and dilute with a pretty austere character. Tastes as though it were much older than four years. (JR)

Cedary, herbaceous nose and the fruit doesn't taste terribly ripe on the palate. Tannins are surprisingly silky given the lack of richness of the fruit. (JH)
