Score 90/100 · Drink 1997-2009, Robert Parker, Apr 1997

The 1992 St. Henry Shiraz is a terrific example of the jammy, late harvest, port-like style that is displayed by some of Australia's biggest red wines. A viscous, deep-looking, dark ruby/purple color is accompanied by plenty of sweet, blackcurrant and jammy raspberry fruit. Medium to full-bodied, the wine reveals good acidity (no doubt added), well-integrated toasty wood, and a thick, rich, chunky finish. It is an outstanding, albeit monolithic Shiraz that should age well for 10-12 years, and, I suspect, improve in the bottle. Importer: PWG Vintners, USA, Inc., Monterey, CA; tel. (408) 655-4848
