Tasting notes
The 2008 Moelleux 1ére Trie Clos du Bourg is a bold, pungent wine. White truffle, dried apricot, mushroom, chamomile, honey and dried herbs give the 2008 an assertive character that is not especially refined. The slightly oxidative flavors and short, compact finish suggest the 2008 has seen better days.

Wonderfully ornate nose of honey, orange, peanuts and jasmine. Full of savoury interest despite the sweet, moreish finish. Poise and ripeness and breadth. (RH)
Huet's brilliantly dark yellow colored 2008 Vouvray Clos du Bourg Moelleux Première Trie offers a super clear and ripe, concentrated and highly elegant, gorgeously aromatic bouquet of ripe, yellow-skinned fruits and a dusty stone and smoky bacon aromas. Sweet and full of finesse and salty minerals on the highly elegant and fruit-intense palate, this beautifully balanced Chenin develops a great tension, density and compact structure that also dominates the long and very promising finish. There is so much finesse and concentration in this wine that you can only fall in love with it. Luckily this affair will hold much longer than today's average marriage.
Very pale. Refined AND concentrated. Like a particularly juicy green apple. Lots of malic acid but masses of richness, too. Not the weight of a Sauternes, obviously, but wonderful precision. Toast and honey on the finish. You could probably attack this earlier than the very taut Mont counterpart. (JR)
