Again, one of the -best ever- and a sleeper of the vintage from St.-Emilion, La Marzelle has never produced anything quite this good. Lots of black cherry and black currant fruit intermixed with licorice, loamy oils notes and foresty scents jump from the glass of this deep ruby/purple, medium to full-bodied, succulent wine. Drink it over the next 10-15 years.

Obviously lots of substance, but not that much aroma. Quite stern and reserved – a Domaine de Chevalier style of St-Émilion?! A little tart on the finish. (JR)

Alain Reynaud now consults. Pure, red-berry fruit and fine tannic frame. Overall more poise and balance. Drink 2014-2024
