Score 94/100 · David Schildknecht, Wine Advocate, Oct 2006

The Loosen 2005 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese smells of apple candy, vanilla, and citrus oils. In the mouth it is predictably, yet in degree startlingly creamy and full of apple jelly, caramelized apple, and vanilla. For all of its enveloping richness and creaminess, this displays the uncanny levity and refinement of which the best 2005s are capable. Given that it had only been ten days in the bottle (and sterile filtering – for wine of this sort an absolute necessity – is stressful) one has to assume that, gorgeous though it is, this will show more personality in the short term.
