Score 86/100 · Drink 2019-2023, Neal Martin, May 2019
The 2006 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a stern and backward bouquet, but nicely defined, slightly earthy with strong undergrowth aromas. The palate is fresh on the entry with fine tannins, quite masculine in style, fresh and lively although strict and linear. Maybe I would have preferred a little more flesh and fruité towards the bitter finish that feels dry and lacks the detail that a Grand Cru should convey. Tasted at the Clos de Vougeot retrospective at Clos de Vougeot.
