Score 91/100 · Drink 2001-2015, Robert Parker, Apr 2001

The world's most talented oenologist has just released his first premium Argentine red. Called Yacochuya (pronounced Yak-co-chew-ya), this 100% old vine (60 years) Malbec comes from a mountainside vineyard situated at 2,470 meters! The 1999 Yacochuya (91 points, $30.00) has an opaque purple color, and a sensational bouquet of licorice, blue and blackberry jam intermixed with charcoal and spice. The wine is full-bodied, dense, and thick, with vibrant acidity for definition. This is a stunning Malbec. Anticipated maturity: now-2015.
