Revealing a style similar to Pavie-Macquin, this backward, dense purple-colored St.-Emilion exhibits a liquid limestone-like character along with abundant floral notes, considerable depth yet a structured as well as tannic, backward, pure personality. It requires another 4-5 years of bottle age, and should last 15-20 years thereafter.

Very dark crimson. Lovely round, convincing nose. This wine has both warmth and integrity on the nose. On the palate it may lack the full-on complexity and weight of Les Grandes Murailles but it is very much of the same style. Lots of tannin there for future development. Not tarty. Very slightly inky and pinched but lots in common with Château Les Grandes Murailles. (JR)

Lots of minerals, berries and cherries, with hints of earth. Full-bodied, with lovely silky, compressed tannins and a long, long finish. Racy and refined. Best after 2008. 415 cases made. James Suckling, Wine Spectator 2003
