Note the higher alcohol in this vintage. Deep garnet with brick rim. Rich on the nose in dark fruit and peppery spice. Smells richer and more oaky than the 2008. On the palate the oak shows more too and there is a slight bitterness on the finish as if the extraction had been a bit too intense – maybe extraction was too easy in 2009? The alcohol shows a bit on the nose. Not sure this has the ageing capacity of the 2008 or the 2010. (JH)
