Tasted blind. Smells of milky coffee. Rather sugary. Finishes a little suddenly. (JR)

Tasted blind at the 10-Year On Tasting in Sauternes. The 2005 Château Rabaud-Promis has a light candied bouquet, timid at first with honey, vanilla pod and a touch of tinned apricot. It is a delicate thing. The palate is fresh and tensile on the entry with fine tannin, good tension with a vibrant finish, though it does not quite possess the complexity of the best 2005s.

Pale with lots of sulphur on the nose. Then good freshness and depth on the palate. Pretty tightly wound and ambitious. Good length. (JR)
