Tasting notes
From what's considered an average vintage in Sauternes, this is a surprisingly good Yquem. Lively, with good acidity, of medium body and with lemon, pineapple, orange and chocolate notes. It reveals its vintage pedigree in the slightly pedestrian finish.--Yquem vertical. Drink now through 2010. Winespectator.com

First tasted at Chateau Lynch-Moussas. A deep greeny/gold colour. It is a little disappointing on the nose, even for this moderate Sauternes vintage. A touch of orange-blossom and acacia - quite linear. The palate is much better. Not a great deal of botrytis but lovely reach waxy peach and apricot. Good acidity - quite spicy on the finish. Does not have the sophistication of great Yquem's but it is still an enjoyable wine. Drink now and 5-8 years. Then at the Yquem vertical in November 2004. A relatively pale, slight green colour. The nose is clean and fresh with simple honey and apricot with a bit of orange-blossom. The palate is waxy and minerally with good acidity. Apricot and peach on the finish. A pretty wine. Good for the vintage. Drink now. Neal Martin, eRobertParker.com
The 1987, from a difficult vintage, is a medium-weight d'Yquem, with enticing oaky, tropical fruit aromas, but the unctuosity and profound depth of flavor so obvious in top years are not present. Anticipated maturity: Now-2010. Last tasted, 1/93. Aug 1993, www.robertparker.com
