Bright medium red. Higher-pitched, perfumed aromas of spicy red fruits, flowers and minerals. Sweet, sappy and lively, if tightly coiled. Stony, soil-driven flavors of spicy red fruits, with pungent notes of minerals and fennel. Ruchottes in a very Chambolle style, as opposed to more animal Gevrey. Very young wine with great potential. But this should be cellared for at least seven or eight years.
The outstanding 2002 Ruchottes-Chambertin (this same wine is also available under the parcel’s owner’s name, Michel Bonnefond) sports a nose of dark cherries, mint, and violets. Medium-bodied, extremely refined, and feminine, this graceful effort is fresh, pure, and vibrant. Loads of flower-imbued dark fruits can be found in its sweet personality. Projected maturity: 2007-2015. Importer: Diageo Chateau and Estate Wines Company, New York, NY; tel. (212) 419-1400
