Score 93/100 · Allen Meadows, Burghound

Here the moderately oaky nose is similar to that of the Charmes but in this case there is notably more sauvage character. The suave, cool and distinctly ripe large-scaled flavors possess plenty of muscle as well as fine richness that is enhanced by the abundance of palate coating dry extract that pushes the firm tannins to the background on the saline-inflected finish. This is a brooding Mazis packed with upside development potential though note that it will require 12 to 15 years for it to reach its full majority. Tasted: Jan 15, 2014. Drink: 2026+
