Tasting notes
Super juicy fruit, and all that meaty, spicy, Hermitage richness too. An absolute stunner – full of nuance and grace. (RH)

The 2009 Genesis Syrah contains 2% Viognier and about 50% new French oak was used but only up to malolactic, then the new oak was reduced to about 15%, for a total aging in oak of 20 months. Deep garnet-purple colored, it has intense aromas of creme de cassis, smoked meat, game, fertile loam, nuts and black olives with hints of black pepper and violets. Medium to full-bodied with refreshing acid cutting through the concentrated fruit, it has a medium level of grainy tannins and a long finish. Approachable now, it should cellar to 2021+. 2% Viognier. Bright, fragrant, dense. Very young. Not so immediate as the Segreto – but surely on its way to being something very special. (RH)
