The sweet NV Pedro Ximénez Anticuario is a rarity, because it's sold at "natural" strength of "only" 10.5% alcohol, as it was never fortified and started with 10% alcohol. It's sweet and velvety textured, with textbook notes of dark chocolate, coffee, raisins and carob beans. It feels like there’s no alcohol here; it has unusual freshness and doesn’t even feel too sweet. A unique PX.

Another step up is the non-vintage Pedro Ximinez from a 15-year-old solera. It is brown amber in color with aromas of orange peel and English toffee. It is thick and rich on the palate and very long. Importer: De Maison Selections, Chapel Hill, NC; tel. (919) 933-4245
