(bottled two weeks ago) Nutty oak and spices on the nose, along with a sweet honeyed nuance. Lush and open-knit, with a fine-grained texture and plenty of depth for the year. Finishes sweet, opulent and long. Plenty of underlying power here. A very successful cuvee for the year.

Lemon oil, tangerine and nuts on the nose. Fatter and sweeter than the Champsgain but not as pristine. A fairly rich wine, with strong fruit and an impression of moderate acidity. These vines were planted in 1991.

The 2004 Meursault Goutte D’Or from Comte Lafon is really showing well. In the bouquet delicate white and yellow fruit with a fine citrus infused filigree minerality – it’s airy and refined. On the palate fresh and vibrant fruit balanced with a very fine and delicate acidity. A very refined Meursault especially considering the vintage – this is what Goutte D’or is all about.
