Medium red. Fresh nose offers red cherry, orange peel and piquant spices, plus a minty lift. Sweet and juicy, with a slightly high-toned floral/spicy character and moderate depth. Slightly edgy today and still a bit youthfully tight, with fruit in the background. This has not recovered as rapidly from the January '06 bottling as the Clos du Chateau, notes Liger-Belair.

(the yield here was a full 42 hectoliters per hectare, the highest production of any of his vineyards, according to Liger-Belair, due to the water-retentive clay soil beneath these 60-to-80-year-old vines) Aromas of black raspberry and black cherry. Supple, generous and rather easygoing, with moderate sweetness and concentration. Not bad but lacks real complexity and grip.
