Translucent blackish ruby. Marked acidity and a strong hint of peppermint. Medium body with perceptible richness and just a little brown-sugar character reminiscent of chaptalisation. This was clearly a fully mature wine with just a hint of decay on the finish. I thought it several decades younger than it is. Quite robust. (JR)
