Score 91/100 · Allen Meadows, Burghound, Jan 2002

Very ripe fruit with notes of chocolate and extract of raspberry, blackberry and pain d'épice (spice bread). Sweet and long but a completely buried tannic structure and excellent length. This is really quite persistent on the finish.

Spiced cherries, stones, and hints of coconut can be discerned in the aromatics of the 1999 Chambolle-Musigny Les Baudes. This plump, medium-bodied wine has a sweet, lush, raspberry, cherry, and vanilla extract-flavored personality. It has excellent depth of fruit and a fresh, persistent character. Drink it over the next 8-9 years. Importer: Neal Rosenthal Wine Merchant, New York, NY; tel. (800) 910-1990.
