The 1978 Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru has a rather Bretty, smudged nose that seems rustic and a bit leaden. The palate is medium-bodied, feral and animally, although there is a sense of depth. Like other '78s, it just drifts away on the finish. Tasted at the 1978 Bouilland horizontal.
