Good deep color. Much less forthcoming on the nose than the Suchots. Silky and creamy-sweet in the mouth but in a shell today, with surprising acidity and freshness for a 2003. Very rich, backward grand cru, finishing with full tannins. This will almost certainly merit a higher score with seven or eight years of cellaring.

Bright ruby-red. The most floral of these young 2003s, with the nose dominated by bitter chocolate and violet. Wonderfully concentrated and sweet, with impressive inner-mouth energy. Finishes extremely long, with brooding, very rich tannins that are more apparent today than those of the Suchots. This offers terrific verve for the vintage. I'd hold off on this for at least six or seven years.
