An exceptionally pretty, even perfumed, spice inflected nose reveals notes of both red and dark berry fruit trimmed in sandalwood hints that are displaying only traces of secondary influence. I like the sense of energy to the solidly concentrated medium-bodied flavors that are supported by still mildly firm tannins on the otherwise balanced, long and complex finale. For my taste this is nearing its peak in magnum format but another 3 to 5 years of keeping should prove to be beneficial. In a word, lovely.

Rather unclean? Overwhelming black cherry aromas and then obvious sweetness, and then chewy green austerity. (JR)

Good medium red. Aromatic nose combines minerals, woodsmoke, Asian spices and chocolatey oak, all lifted by a note of blood orange. Sweet, suave and penetrating but rather backward, with black fruit, spice and flinty mineral flavors carrying through to a broad, very long and sharply delineated finish. Showy today, but has the spine to gain in bottle with six to eight years of cellaring.
