Tasting notes
Good deep red. Knockout perfume of strawberry, violet and cocoa powder, complemented by sweet oak. Sappy, spicy and deep, with a compelling sweetness leavened by firm minerality. Wonderfully silky in texture and graceful. Highly complex flavors of raspberry, leather, smoke and mineral stain the back end with subtle perfume. This struck me as like a more pliant version of the Beaumonts but with the powerful mineral and tannic spine for a 20-year-evolution in bottle.

Good red-ruby. Reticent but pure nose offers black raspberry, minerals and spicy oak. Dense, concentrated and brooding, combining an impressive chewiness of texture and a distinct light touch. Finishes very long and spicy, with firm tannins and a menthol austerity. This will require its final months of elevage to absorb its oak.
