Good red-ruby. Highly aromatic nose of cassis, black raspberry, game, leather, chocolate and mint. Full but juicy, with rich, nicely delineated flavors of dark fruits and game. Highly concentrated, intensely flavored wine with impressive inner-mouth energy. Finishes with strong but silky tannins and superb persistence. Showing impressively today.

Medium-deep red-ruby. Complex aromas of blackberry, roasted herbs and nuts; less expressive today than the Clos Vougeot. The sweetest of these 2001s, with a deep dark chocolate flavor. More delineated than most of these 2001s but not as tangy as I would have expected from this vintage. Finishes firmly tannic and persistent.
