This shows rich blackberry and black cherry fruit aromas that are supported by coffee, menthol, roasted herbs, oak and more oak. This seriously leaves you looking for splinters in your tongue but with air, it does integrate and becomes palatable. Full bodied and very tight and compact, it does have fabulous concentration that might, just might stand up to all the wood. The texture is compact but there's some nice acidity and a long finish. 91??

The 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon/Shiraz The Signature is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Shiraz that spent 20 months in a combination of French and American hogsheads as well as smaller barrels. Its deep, sweet perfume of blackberries, camphor, damp earth, vanilla, licorice, and pepper is followed by a powerful, flavorful, intense wine revealing high tannins as well as impressive concentration. This superb Cabernet should easily age for 12-15 years. Importer: Negociants, USA, Napa CA; tel. (707) 259-0993

Deep ruby. Spicy, intense aromas of cherry, cassis, cigar box and mace. The wine's bitter cherry, licorice and sweet tobacco flavors are held in check by juicy acids and solid structure. The cherry and licorice notes continue through the fresh, pliant, long finish. Quite impressive.
