The 1982 Grand Mayne has a light bouquet with red plum, undergrowth, soy and bay leaf notes. It is comparatively simple in the context of the appellation in this vintage, but there is adequate freshness and focus. The palate is medium-bodied with rather skinny tannins considering the year. To be honest, certainly a light and rather dilute 1982, because of over-cropping. Bottles should be consumed soon. Tasted at the Grand Mayne vertical at the property.

The Nony family has been at the helm of this 17-hectare estate for three generations, since the 1930s, but it’s under Jean-Antoine – in charge since 2015 – that quality here has soared.
