Score 92/100 · Drink 2014-2022, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Dec 2014

The 2010 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champs Canet has a linear, direct, quite intense bouquet with just a slight reduction, opening up all the time with fresh pear, dewy green apple and subtle waxy notes in the background. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, fine tension, rather Meursault-like in style with orange zest and freshly sliced pear towards the tense finish. This is an accomplished wine from Boillot and should drink well for a number of years.

Bright yellow. More obviously ripe on the nose than the Referts: mirabelle, peach, orange blossom and marzipan. A primary peach-and-orange fruit bomb in the mouth, but with enough bright acidity to leaven the impression of sweetness. Tactile, chewy white Burgundy with excellent cut and length.

Attractive creaminess but less dramatic than usual for this producer. Slightly oily and one is aware of the weight. A solid achievement but no bargain. (JR)

Component #1: Aromatic nose combines orange blossom and hazelnut. Fat, rich and fruity but without the tension of the Referts. A generous if somewhat facile style. Component #2, from a plot that yielded just 18 hectoliters per hectare in 2010: Much more minerally on the nose, with enticing hints of linden flower and apple. An ethereal style but with real sap. The suave finish offers excellent tension. Lots of millerandage here. The two components will be blended.
