Score 92/100 · Drink 2013-2024, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Oct 2008

The 2004 Barolo Vigna Enrico VI is made from the Villero vineyard in Castiglione Falletto. This is a more mineral-driven, balsamic expression of Nebbiolo. Medium in body, the wine shows plenty of complexity as it opens in the glass, along with the mentholated notes that are typical of this site. Ideally the wine needs a few years in bottle to come together, but it is also delicious today with a few hours of aeration.

This is a set of surprisingly rich, concentrated wines from Cordero di Montezemolo, one of Piedmont’s historic properties. Importer: Omniwines Distributing Co. Llc., Linden Hill, NY; tel. Dark red with ruby highlights. Classic, perfumed nose combines dark fruits, rose petal, spices and licorice. Lush, rich and fine-grained, with captivating inner-mouth aromatic character and terrific thrust and grip. The suave, horizontal tannins saturate the palate and coat the front teeth. A Barolo with superb sweetness and length.
