Succulent, lovely richness – very rewarding. Lovely lush notes – Cabernet perfume – and some weight yet a kick of leafy acidity. Long and lingering, real interest here. (JR)
Neat nose with some top quality French oak in there but not to excess. Very round and supple and glamorous. Fine tannins underneath. I’d serve this sooner rather than later but it delivers a lot of pleasure. Lovely and round and easy. Real lift and transparency. Excellent value – the same team as at Giscours. (JR)
5ème Cru Classé Quite a developed rim. Lively, more transparent and more lift than its Giscours stablemate. Quite marked acidity. Even a hint of green, but it is alive and racy claret – of the lunchtime variety? (JR)
About the producer
Until recently owned by the Albada Jelgersma family (along with Giscours), Ch. du Tertre is one of the oldest estates in the region – with a history stretching back 1,000 years. Classified as a Fifth Growth, its 54 hectares of vines sit on high gravel outcrops in Margaux.
