Tasting notes
This 1999 Savigny from the late Patrick Bize, has a fine, yet slightly musty bouquet that takes time to gain clarity, only reluctantly offering notes of undergrowth and cigar box. The palate is distinguished by firm tannins that lend this Savigny robustness and masculinity. It feels just a little hard and needs more flesh to render the finish more attractive. Drink now-2017. Tasted January 2014.

Sweet and juicy but quite light and even a little dusty. (JR)
Deep crimson with a pale rim. Candy, jelly nose. Big and bold palate impact. Definitely the brightest and best-balanced of these three bottlings. Still quite chewy but with good balance of fruit, acid and tannin. Firming up a little in bottle. Quite long. (JR)
