Score 90-92/100 · Drink 2000-2007, Pierre Rovani, Oct 1998

The ruby-colored Savigny-Les-Beaune Les Vergelesses possesses sweet black cherry and cassis aromatics followed by an oily-textured burst of powerful sugar-coated grape and candied cherry flavors. Medium-to-full-bodied, it is a ripe, rich, intense, and elegant wine. According to Bize, wines from this vineyard formerly sold at prices identical to red Corton. It is balanced, extremely flavorful and boasts a long, supple, and focused finish. Projected maturity: 2000-2007.
