Score 96/100 · Drink 2010-2020, Pierre Rovani, Dec 2002

Chamomile, verbena, caramel, and kumquats are found in the aromatic profile of the 2001 Riesling Auslese Urziger Wurzgarten** . This hugely concentrated wine is powerful, expansive, and broad. Its intense, pure flavors penetrated the taster's palate with spices, sea salt, tangerines, minerals, and slate. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020+. Great waft of ripe pear sweetness. Good acidity and texture but extremely young and I only wonder whether there isn't a slight hole in the middle. Very slightly sugary finish. (JR)
