Good medium red. Tangy raspberry, crushed stone and a hint of black fruits on the nose; a bit less open than the Veroilles. Then silky and fleshy in the mouth but less vivid and delineated than the nose suggests. A fairly broad, fat style but rather unforthcoming today. Finishes with somewhat tough, granular tannins and a hint of dryness. Not at elegant as it appeared to be from barrel last year.

Very good deep, bright red. Highly aromatic if slightly reduced nose offers crushed fresh raspberry, pepper, herbs, minerals and a hint of oak. Very rich, peppery and dry on the palate, with noteworthy energy and elegance. The finish begins rather austere but then broadens out impressively. The most tannic of these 2004s; in comparison with this, the Veroilles seems silkier.
Deep crimson. Very deep colour. An extension of Bonnes Mares. Very fine and aristocratic nose. Very pure and sweet and lovely. Very fine and deep, yet delicate. Real finesse with some power. (JR)
