Tasting notes
Bright, deep red. Reticent but very precise and scented aromas and flavors of red cherry, orange peel, minerals and espresso, plus a piquant note of mint. Offers outstanding flavor intensity and verve, with strong acidity framing and energizing the cherry, floral and mineral flavors. Finishes with outstanding sappy grip and savory persistence. This will need extended bottle aging.

(tasted from tank; these vines now average about 50 years of age): Bright red with ruby highlights. Great purity and spicy, floral lift to the noble aromas and flavors of black raspberry, cranberry and cocoa powder. Creamy on entry, then ripe and precise in the middle, with mounting perfume that carries through the very long, spicy, firm finish. Brilliantly pure and penetrating Clos Vougeot without any hard edges.
Very dense autumnal berries. Then lots of juice and lift. Quite chewy on the end with real race. Lots of personality. Great Clos de Vougeots exist! Very fresh finish. Long. (JR)
