Tasting notes
The luxury cuvee, which sees more new oak, the 2000 Karolus boasts additional licorice, spice box, black currant and cherry fruit characteristics presented in a medium-bodied, concentrated, woody style. It should drink well for 10-12 years.

Good deep ruby. Primary, pure aromas of cassis, blackberry, violet face powder and bitter chocolate. Intensely flavored but very tightly wrapped; a muscular style of wine that may be a bit too extracted for its own good. Flavors of cassis and licorice. Finishes long and fresh, with rather drying tannins. I'd say this wine ultimate balance is a distinct question mark.
