Tasting notes
Score 87/100 · Drink 1988, Robert Parker, Jan 1998

Consistently one of the most delicious wines of this somewhat overlooked vintage, the 1979 Haut-Bailly has excellent deep ruby color, a rich, moderately intense, smoky, oaky, ripe-fruit bouquet, soft, silky, fat, plump, fruity flavors, light tannins, and a velvety finish. It is harmonious and lovely. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 3/88.
