This bottle of 1955 Haut-Bailly was bottled by Hanappier, a Dutch merchant with a good reputation. Alas, I don't think this bottle has travelled well through time. Though the nose offers kirsch and Indian ink, it is too burdened with VA to really enjoy. You can tell this is endowed with a sweet core of fruit, but it feels too oxidative on the finish. This is frustrating, as I caught glimpses of a very intriguing old Pessac-Léognan! Tasted blind at the "five" dinner at Domaine de Chevalier.
About the producer

Quality at this château, now one of Pessac-Léognan’s leading wine estates, has risen exponentially under the reign of Véronique Sanders, with the property known for crafting wines of elegance and poise.
