Score 90/100 · Drink 2004-2016, Pierre Rovani, Dec 2004
The mineral-scented 2003 Riesling Auslese Dorsheimer Goldloch is a smooth, suave sweet offering. Its opulent, angle-free character is packed with pulpy fruit, spices, and honeyed minerals that linger in its impressively long finish. Anticipated maturity: now-2016. Cool, earthy nose. Lots of texture. Hazelnuts. Round and supple. Good balance. Not the most intense but it has the equipment for a long life. Nuanced and interesting and confident. Floral – though next to the Rheinhessen wines seems very dry and retiring. (JR)
