Score 87/100 · Robert Parker, Jan 1997

This is a perfect example of my statement about Chave's wine starting off slowly. After bottling in 1981, this wine seemed light in color and rather insubstantial. Two years later the color seemed deeper and more body was apparent. Fully mature by 1987, this wine remains delicious. It is elegant, ripe, round, medium-bodied, generously flavored, and well balanced. Drink it up. Last tasted 11/95.
