Medium red. Briary aromas of raspberry, mocha, cola and underbrush. Juicy, clean and bright, with flavors of red berries and underbrush. Nicely balanced wine with sneaky flavor intensity. Builds nicely on the back end, finishing ripe but dry, with well-buffered tannins. Not particularly austere: this may well develop quickly.

(14 of the 17 barrels are real Charmes, while the rest are Mazoyeres) Red-ruby. Slightly medicinal but pure nose hints at minerals, earth, leather, game and flowers; I might have guessed Chambertin. Sweet, creamy and fat, with compelling, complex fruit, mineral and violet flavors. Finishes firmly tannic, long and subtle.
