Score 86-88/100 · Allen Meadows, Burghound

Why a great domaine such as Rousseau can consistently fashion such brilliant results with some of their wines yet not this one is something that has perplexed me, and others, for years. 2000 will bring no answers either because even though this is very pure and fine, it lacks depth, density and focus even though I like the easy going personality and delicious flavors. However, do not expect anything profound. Allen Meadows, Burghound Jan01,2002

Medium red. Reticent nose opens to reveal musky red berries and underbrush. Leanish but fresh, with attractive sweetness and modest flesh. Shows good balancing acidity, but lacks real grand cru volume and thrust.
