Deep red. Knockout nose combines raspberry, spices, flowers, minerals, tar and menthol. Rich and chewy if still a bit imploded, with flavors of maraschino cherry, raspberry, rose petal and minerals. Wonderfully supple and light on its feet. The wine's flavors really unfurl toward the back, filling the retronasal passage on the long, firm, aromatic aftertaste. Offers a rare combination of finesse and power. This calls for seven or eight years of patience but will age well beyond.

Sweet and charming, but rather low-key. Not especially intense for a Grand Cru. Yields too high? (JR)
